What is Social Justice?
In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny.” Humanity, is interconnected and with that comes a moral responsibility we have towards each other. Injustice erodes the foundation of a just society, and allowing it to persist in one place can lead to the degradation of injustice in all other places.
Regardless of our differences in nationality, race, or background, we are bound together as part of a shared humanity. This interdependence means that the actions and injustices faced by one group of people can affect others, even if they are geographically or socially distant. Just as a single garment is woven from many threads, our destinies are interwoven. The well-being of one community is intertwined with the well-being and justice of all.
